On November 3rd, 1903 Panama declared itself independent of Colombia, following a revolt engineered by the U.S.

Panama had previously achieved independence from Spain on November 28th, 1821, when it became part of the then Republic of Grand Colombia.

On November 7, 1885 Canada's first transcontinental railway, the Canadian Pacific, was completed in British Columbia after over 4 years of construction work. Thousands of European Immigrants and Chinese laborers helped lay the tracks and worked with explosives to clear tunnels.


On November 8th, 1895 X-rays were discovered by German physicist Wilhelm Röntgen at the University of Würzburg. In 1901 he was granted the first ever Nobel prize in physics for his dedication. The Röntgen Memorial Site in Würzburg houses an exhibition of his instruments, documents and machines.

80 for Brady 

is a 2023 American sports comedy film starring 4 of the industries’ most iconic `players`: Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field.

They play 4 elderly lifelong best friends Lou, Trish, Maura, and Betty who are massive fans of the New England Patriots, particularly the team's star quarterback, Tom Brady.

The plot follows their journey through their NFL Experience at the Super Bowl in Houston, as a testament of their resilience and desire to live life to the fullest.

The film is inspired by a real-life group of Patriots fans known as the "Over 80 for Brady" club and it was the grandson of one member who pitched the idea for a film.


Sweet Potatoes Anna with Prunes

 

1.    Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter, remove foam and strain.

2.    Heat 1 cup of red wine, add 10 pitted prunes, turn off the heat and let them soak. After 20 minutes, drain and coarsely chop the prunes.

3.    Preheat the oven to 230C and brush a layer of your melted butter onto the frying pan or baking dish of choice.

4.    You will use 5 sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced. Arrange a layer of potatoes in circles. Brush with butter, sprinkle with salt and pepper and repeat. Add the prunes in between the layers, remembering to brush with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper after every layer of potatoes

5.    Bake until crisp and tender, about 40 minutes.
